What is Battlefield Bad Company 2 VIP for?

I'm probably going to buy Battlefield Bad Company 2 to try out the series and practice for Battlefield 3 I know they're different(don't hate me because I'm barely getting it). What is the VIP for in the game is it for maps or something? Is Battlefield Bad Company 2 worth buying?|||yeah its for all the maps that have the VIP symbol next to it, if you have VIP then you get map packs 1 - 7 free
